Obama accorded state welcome at Parliament Square

PETALING JAYA - President Barack Obama was accorded a state welcome at Parliament Square after arriving at RMAF airbase in Subang for a three-day visit.

The American leader's entourage arrived at the Parliament grounds at about 5.40pm.

He was welcomed by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

After making their way to the royal dais, the US national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, and Malaysia's national anthem, the Negaraku, were played.

Obama later inspected a guard-of-honour and was introduced to Cabinet ministers and foreign heads of mission.

Obama had arrived after a six-hour flight from South Korea.

Malaysia is the third leg of Obama's four-nation tour of Asia, and he will end his trip with a visit to the Philippines on Monday.
