PETALING JAYA - A civil servant duped more than 10 single mothers into having sex with him in return for "approving" their applications to secure homes under the People's Housing Project.
The administrative officer, in his 50s, has allegedly been doing this for the past several years and is believed to have duped many women.
According to a source, the man chose his victims based on the personal photo that each woman had to attach to her application form, which was submitted to the department in Alor Setar where he worked.
His illicit activities came to an end when several of his victims reported him to the department and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission arrested him on Thursday afternoon.
"The man would phone his chosen victim, asking her to see him at his office. When they met, he would tell her what he wanted.
"Since many of these single mothers were desperate, they didn't see any other option but to submit to him so that they could have their own home," said the source.
The man allegedly told his victims that he had the power to approve their applications for housing units under the government scheme.
