NILAI - The partially charred remains of a suspected male murder victim was found in an oil palm plantation at Bandar Enstek here by a cowherd yesterday.

The cowherd found the body while rounding up his cattle about 10am.

The body had been covered under palm fronds about 300m into the plantation.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Yusoff Awang said the cowherd called the police after making the gruesome find.

A police team found the victim lying face up with burn marks on the head and upper torso.

Yusoff said it was believed the victim, in his 20s, was murdered before being burned.

"There were injuries and bruises all over his body."

He said the victim might have been killed somewhere else before his body was taken to the spot and burned.

Yusoff said the victim's identity had not been determined.

The case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
