GEORGE TOWN - Penang PAS is compiling the names of members in the state who are planning to join Gerakan Harapan Baru, said state commissioner Muhamad Fauzi Yusoff.

He said the names would be submitted to the party's disciplinary board for further action.

Fauzi said the PAS central leadership was now giving continuous advice to such members, including those who lost in the party polls last month.

"We are not asking them to leave the party, but the final decision is still up to them," he said.

Fauzi claimed that the majority of PAS grassroots members did not support GHB.

"This is why those who set up the group lost in the party polls at the PAS muktamar.

"Most of our members are still dedicated to the party. Even those who support them are not likely to leave PAS," he added yesterday.

Fauzi believed that the formation of GHB would not affect PAS, which has about 1.2 million members nationwide now, about 30,000 of them in Penang.

GHB, formed by a group of PAS progressive members, is led by Mohamad Sabu, who failed to defend his deputy president's post in the party polls.
