PETALING JAYA - The people of Selangor are the biggest losers in the current political crisis in Pakatan Rakyat, said former Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
"The state leaders' obsession with excessive politics, which has caused rifts and now a real break-up in Pakatan, is placing rakyat-centred issues on the back burner," he said in a statement.
With the state government comprising PAS, DAP and PKR now in limbo following DAP's announcement that Pakatan no longer exists, Khalid hit out at certain Pakatan leaders whom he blamed for the crisis.
The Port Klang assemblyman who was sacked from PKR last year, said Pakatan leaders, who like to consider themselves as the people's champions, should lead by example.
Taking a dig at the infighting between DAP and PAS, Khalid said Pakatan leaders should treat component parties and their leadership, political allies, supporters and sympathisers with respect and dignity.
"Intervening in internal party issues should not be a norm for any coalition, what more with Pakatan Rakyat," he said.
Reflecting on his own experiences, Khalid said his move to relinquish the post of Mentri Besar was in vain as it was not enough to subdue the "greed" and "arrogance" of certain Pakatan politicians.
