A father was fatally gored and trampled by his pet buffalo that he was trying to sell to fund his child's college education.

Kosmo! reported that Bazararuddin Yeop Yahya was loading the animal onto a lorry when it suddenly went amok.

During the Wednesday evening incident in Kampung Gantuk in Temerloh, several men, including Bazararuddin's brother-in-law Mohamad Abdul Jalil, were helping Bazararuddin, 59.

"When Bazararuddin was holding the leash, the animal suddenly gored him in the abdomen, thigh and crotch," said Mohamad Abdul, adding that its horns were over 90cm long.

Mohamad Abdul said his brother-in-law was left in a bloody state, with several broken ribs and wounds from the attack .

"But even in that state, my brother-in-law insisted that we load the buffalo onto the lorry. He told us to sell his beloved bull for RM4,000 (S$1,316) to fund his daughter's studies," he said.

Bazararuddin's neighbour Rizal Illah, 45, said the victim told him the money was to send Farah Zulaika, 19, to her second semester in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

"We carried out his dying wish, sold the bull and handed the money to the family," he said.

Temerloh police chief Supt Zuhdin Mahmud confirmed the incident.

He said the sale of the buffalo was finalised before the victim was brought back to his home, and then sent to Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah for treatment.

"However, he was declared dead on arrival, with the cause of death determined as severe bleeding from the chest and abdomen," he said.

The police confirmed there was no element of foul play.
