PETALING JAYA - PKR remains committed to Pakatan Rakyat despite PAS tabling amendments to the Syariah Criminal Code (II) 1993 in the Kelantan state assembly.

"We will defend Pakatan Rakyat. We are working together very well," said Bukit Katil MP Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin after a PKR political bureau meeting on Friday night.

"PKR will issue an official statement on Saturday, and I believe all members of the party will support the stand," he said.

Shamsul added that the meeting was "very good" and had taken all relevant matters into account.

Asked about the allegation that a PKR member of the Kelantan State Assembly had voted in favour of the enactment, Shamsul said it was premature to make a decision on the matter as investigations were ongoing.

PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail also confirmed that a decision was made by the political bureau and that a statement would be issued on Saturday.
