IPOH - A 57-year-old planter died after being hit on the head by a stray bullet from a shotgun allegedly used by his friend while hunting for wild boars that destroyed their crops.
Mohd Sarjidi Ibin slipped into coma after the incident at 1.30pm on Tuesday and was pronounced dead yesterday at 12.02am at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
Perak Tengah district police chief Supt Mohd Fakri Che Sulaiman said the case was now being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
He added that before Mohd Sarjidi's death, the case was being investigated under Section 37 of the Firearms Act.
"When we carried out investigations at the scene, we recovered the bullet casing, and seized the shotgun used to fire the shot," he said.
Mohd Sarjidi and his 59-year-old friend had gone hunting at Pasir Garam in Kampung Gajah on Tuesday.
It is learnt that the animals had destroyed their crops and they decided to hunt them at the oil palm plantation.
The friend was said to have fired a shot at a wild boar but was shocked when he saw Mohd Sarjidi collapsing moments later.
