BUTTERWORTH: Police believe they have solved Tuesday's shooting case in Taman Carissa Villa, Mak Mandin, with the arrest of a 29-year-old suspect and the seizure of a Browning pistol.
North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said the man was arrested when police raided a house in Jalan Kubang Semang, Permatang Pauh, near here at 8.10pm on Friday.
The raiding team which was headed by Asst Supt Mohd Yusof Ibrahim found the weapon in the house.
ACP Abdul Rahman said they had also taken the suspect to Sungai Prai beside the Tuanku Abdul Rahman bridge where he claimed to have thrown another pistol.
"Six marine police personnel are still searching for the weapon."
He said police had obtained a remand order to detain the suspect for a week.
ACP Abdul Rahman said the suspect, who owned a coffee shop in Seberang Jaya near here, had four previous records for robbery.
"We believe the motive was provocation," he said, adding that the case was now considered closed.
