GEORGE TOWN - Provocative posters and banners were put up at several locations in Bukit Dumbar and Gelugor near here.

The slogans threatened those who are joining the Bersih 4 rally on Saturday and Sunday.

Also seen was a banner implicating that the poor villagers will be evicted from their homes.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalalthrash Wahid said he has since instructed police personnel to take down the provocative posters.

"We are trying to identify the suspects that put the seditious posters up.

"I want to warn the culprits and everyone out there. Stop trying to incite hate or you will face the consequences," ACP Mior Faridalathrash said.

The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(a) of the Sedition Act 1948 for acts with seditious tendencies.
