Rat bites train passenger's ear

A 62-year-old passenger on board the Nellai Express train was bitten by a rat. He was taken to a hospital as he was bleeding.

Tamil Nesan reported that retiree R. Charles was returning home after visiting his daughter in Chennai when the rodent bit him while the train was crossing Trichy on Saturday.

The train was held up for about 15 minutes.

Charles, who was travelling with his wife, a daughter and granddaughter, said he was sleeping when he felt a sharp pain in his right ear. He said that he woke up startled and found his ear bleeding.

His family members and other passengers complained to the train ticket examiner, who rang up the railway authorities in Madurai and arranged for a medical team to be present at the station.

When the train reached Madurai station, Charles was taken to the hospital.
