Regent of Kelantan hands over aid to 27 poor families

MACHANG, Malaysia - The Kelantan State Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) and Media Prima Berhad (MPB) yesterday handed out aid to 27 families under a joint charity programme to help the needy.

The families received RM100 and grocery items each during the event held at the Bukit Bakar recreational forest here.

The Regent of Kelantan, Dr Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra, who is also MAIK president, officiated the event before presenting the gifts to the families.

In his speech, he thanked MPB for extending its cooperation to ensure the programme could be implemented.

"This programme is important in our efforts to build harmonious relations with the people, especially the poor."

He said he hoped that such programmes would continue to be organised in the future so that the authorities could better understand the problems of the poor.

Present were MPB chairman Datuk Johan Jaaffar and MAIK deputy president Datuk Kamaruddin Mohd Zin.
