The missing two-year-old girl Angie Tiong had been "sold off" by her drug-addict father for RM12,000 (S$3,900) in Johor, China Press reported.

Angie's relative, who declined to be named, said this was revealed by the girl's father, 33, to the police.

"The father told police that the girl had been sold off after she was brought to a lawyer firm to sign an agreement, he had received RM12,000 after surrendering his daughter to a middle man," she said.

The relative alleged the father took the girl away from her aunt's house in Johor Baru on Nov 9.

"We suspect something amiss when he gave us contradicting statements about the girl's disappearance," she said.
