SHAH ALAM - A renowned crime buster has assumed the post of state deputy police chief, vowing on his very first day to bring more aggressive efforts to fight crime, especially street crime.
Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar officially assumed the post of state deputy police chief yesterday, taking over from the departing Deputy Comm Datuk A. Thaiveegan, who is bound for Penang.
On his second tour of duty in Selangor, DCP Abdul Rahim previously served in Penang as the deputy police chief. Prior to that, he was Selangor deputy CID chief before helming the Johor CID.
"It is certainly a challenge to be the deputy CPO in Selangor but I am ready to face any challenge," he said during the handing-over ceremony here yesterday.
Newly appointed state police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said he was lucky to have a crime buster with over 27 years of experience as his deputy.
