Retiree dies after parang attack outside home

SABAK BERNAM: A 61-year-old man died in hospital after he was attacked by two parang-wielding men in front of his home.

Ng Kee Len, a retiree from Site C, Sekinchan here, died from slash wounds 15 minutes after he was rushed to the Tanjong Karang Hospital at about 5am yesterday.

Ng was believed to have stepped out from his home after he was awakened at about 4am and saw several men smashing his car that was parked outside.

Seeing the gate open, the men then approached him and started slashing him.

Ng, who suffered injuries on the head and body, shouted for help.

It is learned that the men came to Ng's house at about 3am and warned one of his sons to "behave or face the consequences".

Sabak Bernam OCPD Supt Nor Azmi Isa said the attack could be because of a misunderstanding between the son and the owner of a karaoke outlet where the son had not been allowed to celebrate his birthday earlier.

"Two men aged 30 and 31 have been arrested to assist investigations," he said, adding that the case was being investigated as murder.
