River bank near Batu Caves temple gets upgrade for Thaipusam
Hindu devotees climb 272 steps to the Batu Caves temple near a giant statue of Lord Murugan during the Thaipusam festival in Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

MALAYSIA - Makkal Osai reported that the river bank near the Batu Caves temple was being upgraded for Thaipusam.

Sri Maha Mariamman Temple's Devasthanam information chief P. Vivekanandan said it had urged the Irrigation and Drainage Department to clean the river and its bank.

This, he said, was to enable devotees to perform their rituals during Thaipusam.

Other facilities, such as clean drinking water systems and more rubbish bins, were also being installed for the festival.
