KAJANG - Four robbers scooped up at least RM100,000 (S$31,570) in jewellery during a heist at a goldsmith here.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Othman Nayan said Tuesday the robbers, who wore helmets with heavily tinted visors, entered the premises at the ground floor of a shoplot along Jalan Tun Abd Aziz here at about 6pm Monday.

CCTV footage of the incident showed one of the robbers standing guard at the entrance holding an object that looked like a gun.

At the time of the incident, there were four employees in the shop - two behind the counter, one attending to two customers and one in the office.

One of the robbers began smashing the display cases with a sledgehammer before snatching the jewellery and putting them in a satchel.

The two customers were seen calm throughout the ordeal, which lasted for several minutes.

ACP Othman said police received a report from one of the employees about 30 minutes after the incident, adding that 10 fingerprints were retrieved at the scene.

"This is the third time the shop has been robbed. The first was in 2005 and the second was in 2015. It has been in operation since 1997."

The case is being investigated for armed gang robbery.
