Scientist detained for producing illegal sex stimulant

A self-proclaimed "scientist" in Gombak has been detained by Health Ministry officials for producing and selling an illegal sex stimulant drug which can cause heart attacks and death, reported Harian Metro.

The scientist, who owned an illegal factory in Taman Selayang, reportedly included the chemical thiodimethylsildenafil found in mangosteen juice.

Harian Metro reported that the test showed the drink contained several times more the amount approved for drugs such as Viagra.

The officers seized 16,570 packets of powdered 'mangosteen' drink worth over RM200,000 (S$77,400) which had been processed and ready to be sold.

The products were sold through multi-level marketing schemes and marketed as being able to cure erectile dysfunction and improve libido.
