PETALING JAYA - Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has chided those who claimed he misled and lied to Sultan of Selangor, saying allegations have dragged the Selangor Monarch into the current political mudslinging.

"It has been clarified that Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was satisfied that I had the majority support in the Selangor State Assembly when I had an audience on Aug 11," he said in a note to fellow politicians, issued early Sunday.

Khalid said the Morib and Hulu Kelang assemblymen were still loyal to PAS at the time, and that it was illogical to suggest their crossover should have been considered a fact before it was made public.

"I reiterate that those - including YB Lim Kit Siang - who believe that I have lied to the Sultan are more than welcome to seek clarification with the Sultan himself as to his position on the matter.

"In the event that YB Lim is unfamiliar with the relevant protocol, I have taken the liberty of drafting a letter to the Sultan for him to that end that needs only his signature. Other politicians are welcome to use it as well," he added.
