KOTA KINABALU - More calls have been made by gunmen who kidnapped two women from Singamata Adventures and Reef Resort off Semporna.
Sabah commissioner police Datuk Hamza Taib confirmed this but refused to mention to whom the contacts were made.
"There is more than one call after the first contact (last Friday)," he told reporters during a press conference at State police headquarters in Kepayan, here.
Eastern Sabah Security Command Datuk Mohammad Mentek had on Sunday confirmed that the first contact was made between a representative of gunmen and the family of Chinese tourist Gao Hua Yuan, 29.
"I don't need to comment about ransom as our concern is on the safety of the two victims," added Hamza.
He also said police picked up another four individuals to facilitate investigations.
"We now have eight people under our custody who we believe can shed light to what happened."
Hamza said those detained would be investigated Section 3(1) of Kidnapping Act 1961 and Section 4 of Firearms Increased Penalty Act.
On April 2, at 10.30pm, seven gunmen abducted Gao and resort worker Marcy Dayawan.
