Semporna resort kidnap: Security forces checking possible escape routes
A Chinese tourist and a Philippine hotel worker were abducted by armed men at Singamata Reef Resort in Malaysia's eastern state of Sabah.

‎SEMPORNA - Malaysian security forces are now checking on all possible routes used by armed abductors in their attempt to escape after abducting two women from Singgamata Resort off here, last night.

As of 2.45pm, when contacted by New Straits Times, Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) director general Datuk Mohammad Mentek‎ was engaged in a meeting.

However an Esscom officer confirmed that security personnel have been deployed to the sea to hunt the gunmen and they had informed their counterparts in the Philippines.

A press conference by Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib is expected at 4pm.

On Wednesday at 10.30pm, a Chinese tourist and a Filipino, were taken from the resort by a group of men‎.

The resort, which is built on stilts in shallow waters or commonly known as a floating resort, is located less than 30 mins by boat from Semporna town.

At the time there were other guests and staff at the resort.
