China Press reported that a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 17-year-old boy in Sibu.
A medical check-up also revealed that the girl could have been sodomised.
It was learnt that the boy, who has since been remanded by police to facilitate investigation, had forced himself on the girl on several occasions.
The assault was said to have taken place at a hostel where the victim was staying with her stepfather and mother in Sarikei for a month.
The boy is said to be a relative of the girl's stepfather.
The alleged rape was only uncovered when the girl returned to her father's house in Sibu a month later on Feb 1.
Her father had noticed that she was walking awkwardly.
A female family member then inspected the girl's private parts and anus, and was shocked to find them bruised.
Police have conducted checks at the hostel where the alleged rapes were said to have taken place.
