KOTA KINABALU: A villager had a shock of his life when he discovered a 12m-long cobra at his car porch in the northern Kudat district.

Bakir Ahmidul from Kampung Tinutudan spotted the snake coiled up near some flower pots after returning home from work at about 4.40pm, Wednesday, and immediately sought the help of firemen.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department spokesman Affendy Ramin said it took less than 20 minutes to capture the reptile.

Affendy said the snake was now being kept at the Kudat fire station and would be turned over to the Sabah Wildlife Department.
