Some Malaysian streets too dark and unsafe to move about after sundown

MALAYSIA - Nanban reported that residents in several areas in Ayer Tawar, Perak, like Taman Damai, Taman Permata, Taman Bunga Matahari, Taman Peru, Taman Chong, Taman Dindings and the government quarters are having a hard time navigating the streets at night because the street lights have not been functioning for the past few months.

A resident, K. Narayanan from Taman Dindings said many residents were afraid to go out as they feared for their safety.

According to him, patients also had to endure the difficult walk to reach the government clinic nearby, while passengers who were dropped off by express buses had to figure out their way if they were dropped after sundown.

Narayanan claimed that they had forwarded their complaints to the relevant officers in Setiawan numerous times, but nothing had been done.
