ALOR SETAR - The body of a man believed to be Nepalese was found floating in a pond near a quarry in Jabi, Pokok Sena here.

No identification papers were found on the body.

Batu Kawi Quarry site clerk Faridah Noor, 44, spotted the body in the pond about 100m from her workplace when she checked out a foul smell coming from there.

"I could not stand the stench. I thought it was from the carcass of a dog.

"I decided to go near the pond to check the source of the smell," she said after the grisly find at about 8.45am yesterday.

Faridah then alerted a few workers at the quarry about the body. One of them called the police.

The deceased was between 30 and 40 years old. No injuries were found on the body.

The body has been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here for postmortem to ascertain if any foul play was involved.
