Stripping incident disgraceful, says minister

PETALING JAYA - Resort guests and other visitors to Bukit Tinggi should always respect the sensitivities of local folk, said Bentong MP Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Describing it as "a good place to relax and recharge", he especially called on organisers of motivational camps there to scrutinise their activities to ensure that these did not upset anyone.

On Saturday, a group of camp participants allegedly became overly competitive during a game and ended up naked in an effort to win.

Teams had been challenged to form the longest line possible and the members decided to use pieces of their clothing as extensions.

The 39 participants and nine facilitators were arrested by police for committing an obscene act in public.

Bentong folk were not amused by the incident and Liow, who is MCA president, said that what happened "is disgraceful".

Similar incidents must be avoided, he said in a statement yesterday.

Bentong is well known for eco-tourism and there are more than 60 eco-resorts in the district.
