MALACCA- The next six years are crucial in moving the country forward to an advanced high-income nation, said Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
The MCA president said with the various transformation agenda in place, stronger determination and support from all quarters were needed to realise Vision 2020, mooted 30 years ago.
"All of us should participate actively to benefit from the country's transformation," Liow said after attending the Federation of Malaysian Advertising Manufacturers anniversary dinner here on Monday night.
"No one should be marginalised, sidelined or suppressed in the course of the transformation.
"We must ensure that everyone will get to have a say and be able to make a difference in moving this country forward," he added.
Liow, who is also Transport Minister, said 2015 was an important year as it would be when the final Budget under the 10th Malaysia Plan would be presented.
"We are introducing a new taxation system and new rationalisation of Government subsidies," he pointed out.
"We also have to deliver what we have promised in the 10th Malaysia Plan and wrap up important milestones before we move on to the next phase soon,'' he added.
Liow also said that Budget 2015 would focus on helping the people cope with the rising cost of living.
He hoped that the Transport Ministry would be given more funds to stimulate the economy by improving urban transportation, including railway and mass rapid transit systems.
