Student, 13, jumps off school building in suicide bid

KUANTAN - A 13-year-old student attempted suicide by jumping from the third floor of her school building here.

Kuantan Deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Aziz Ahmad said the girl had suddenly jumped off from the building of SMK Tok Sera at about 1pm yesterday.

"She survived the fall but she broke both her legs and arms.

"She has been sent to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan for treatment," he said.

Supt Abdul Aziz said police found a suicide note written in Chinese on the student's left wrist.

However, he said there was no motive stated as to why she had tried to take her own life.

This was the second such incident at the school.

On May 23, Form Three student Syamil Ismail, 15, died after he jumped from the third floor of the school building.

Police investigations revealed that Syamil could have been depressed.
