Student dies without regaining consciousness after Saturday's snatch theft

PETALING JAYA - A college student, who was a victim of snatch thieves, passed away at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) on Monday.

Dickson Wong, 22, had been in a coma since the assault on Saturday morning. He died without regaining consciousness at about 5pm.

His family, who is from Sibu, Sarawak, was with him when he died. It is learnt that the family knew of the incident through the newspapers.

Wong was walking in an alley near a 24-hour convenience store near Taman Mayang at about 7am when he was attacked by four men on motorcycles. He was hit on the head.

Nearby residents found Wong with blood oozing from his head. They flagged down a passing car and rushed him to the hospital.

He was only identified the following day as his assailants had taken all of his belongings, including his MyKad, which were in his sling bag.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999.
