GEORGE TOWN - Penang MCA has challenged DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to sue PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali over the local council elections issue.
Its deputy chairman Tan Teik Cheng said Lim should take legal action against his PAS counterpart if the allegations against Lim were untrue.
"Since Lim can sue Utusan Malaysia for baseless allegations, he should sue Mustafa as well," Tan said.
"I don't understand why Lim is keeping quiet with all the 'bullets' coming from PAS," he said.
Penang Gerakan secretary Oh Tong Keong also urged Lim to take legal action against Mustafa.
He said Mustafa's allegation was serious as it involved Lim's credibility.
"He should reaffirm his stand and take the necessary legal action to seek justice," said Oh.
"Do it for the sake of the DAP-led state government's credibility, accountability and transparency.
"Why would the fearless Lim refuse to comment? This will only lead the people to construe that what Mustafa said could be correct,"
Mustafa had challenged Lim to a debate, while accusing him of spewing "half-truths".
He had said that PAS was not consulted over the local council elections before it was tabled in the state assembly in May 2012, although Lim has claimed otherwise.
