Teacher dies after being struck by lightning

SHAH ALAM - A 32-year-old teacher was killed when he was struck by lightning at a school here.

Mohd Farhan Masudi was leaning on the metal door of the school hall when lightning struck on Thursday evening, said Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Shafien Mamat.

"He collapsed and suffered severe head and chest injuries.

"Two of his friends who tried to help him were also affected by the electrical current," ACP Shafien added.

All three, he said, were rushed to Hospital Shah Alam for treatment, but Mohd Farhan died on the way there.

His friends are in stable condition.

ACP Shafien said Mohd Farhan was among the 40 teachers who were attending a state-level football coaching workshop which was held at the school.

"Most of the teachers had already left the school at the time of the incident," he said.

Mohd Farhan was a teacher at a secondary school in Tanjong Karang, Selangor.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
