Teenage couple 'find' newborn baby at waterfall

A teenage couple lodged a police report claiming to have found a newborn baby at the Jeram Pasu Waterfall Recreational Park in Pasir Puteh when it is suspected to be theirs, Kosmo! reported.

District police chief Deputy Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the teenagers, aged 17 and 15, had brought the baby, still covered in blood and with its umbilical cord attached, to the girl's mother, claiming to have found the child while swimming at the waterfall.

The mother took the couple and the baby boy to the Kok Lanas police station at 4.30pm on the same day to lodge a report.

The police have launched an investigation and sent the baby to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital. They suspect that the baby might be related to the couple.

"The male suspect has been arrested for further investigation while the girl is undergoing a test at the hospital," he said.

The newborn, he added, was healthy and being cared for by the hospital.

Initial investigations revealed that the teenage couple are still studying.
