A bite in time saved a teenage student from a potential rapist in Kota Baru, reported Harian Metro.

The 13-year-old girl was on her way home from school at around 2.45pm on Wednesday when she was ambushed by the man at a lane behind Jalan Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II.

Kota Baru OCPD Asst Comm Rohaimi Md Isa said the man jumped out of the bushes and removed his shirt.

"He then covered the girl's mouth with his hand. She put up a struggle and both of them fell onto the road.

"The victim then bit the man's hand and he ran away," he said.

The student escaped with a swollen lip and a cut to her left hand.

ACP Rohaimi said the attacker, who was weating shorts and left a slipper behind, was about 162cm tall with a slim build and a yellowish brown complexion.

The police also found a Proton Savvy, believed to belong to the man, by the road.
