Thousands pay last respects to ex-Perak MCA chief

IPOH - Thousands of well-wishers paid their last respects to the late Datuk Yeoh Kian Teik as his casket was taken on a procession along the city streets.

They stood silently along the roadside as they observed the procession passing by between 12:30pm and 1pm yesterday.

Family members, relatives and friends of the former Perak MCA chief walked behind his casket which was carried by about 30 people.

His internationally-acclaimed mo­­­­vie star daughter Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh and her fiance Datuk Jean Todt were among those who took part in the procession from their home in Lebuh Lasam to the Seri Maju express bus office at Jalan CM Yusuff.

There, Kian Teik's casket was transferred into a hearse and was driven to the Paradise Memorial Park in Tanjung Rambutan for burial.

Kian Teik, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday at about 6:15pm.

Among those present at the funeral yesterday included MCA Wanita chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie, state MCA chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, Tanjung Malim MP Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan and other party members.
