KUALA LUMPUR - Thousands of Muslims gathered at Dataran Merdeka to pray for the country in the run-up to Independence Day.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and other Cabinet members attended the Pray for Malaysia programme alongside members of the public yesterday evening.
The congregation prayed for, among others, harmony and unity among Malaysians and for the country to be spared of disasters and tragic events.
Prayers were led by the Imam Besar of Putrajaya's Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin mosque, Hazarudin Baharudin.
Now in its second year, the programme will also see prayer sessions by the Hindus, Christians, Sikhs and the Buddhists leading up to Aug 31.
