BATU PAHAT - A housewife in Taman Hajat here was shocked to find that her 20-month-old daughter was abused while in the care of a babysitter.
Kee Siu Li, 21, had left her baby with a 28-year-old woman for three days as she wanted to visit her mother in a nearby housing estate.
"She had been leaving Tan Zi Sin with the babysitter for a few hours for the past three months each time she went out to town or to meet friends," said Kee's brother-in-law Tan Keng Heng, 33.
This time Kee left the girl at the babysitter's house for three days from March 24.
When she came for her daughter, she found burn marks on her face and body, Tan said.
He said she immediately sent the baby to Hospital Batu Pahat and the doctor who examined the girl confirmed that she had been abused and the burn marks were probably from cigarette butts.
