A toddler lost his right hand at the wrist after it got caught in an escalator at KL Sentral reported Harian Metro.
Police believe 15-month-old Mohd Afkar Daniel Freedy had been playing near the escalator alone when the incident happened.
Rescuers managed to recover the hand two hours after the incident on Monday morning.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said the boy was believed to have got on the escalator on the second floor to get to the first floor when his wrist got stuck.
"His hand was severed and fell into the gaps between the escalator. A member of the auxiliary police who was nearby rushed Mohd Afkar Daniel to Kuala Lumpur Hospital after giving him first aid," he said.
