KUCHING - Three men have been remanded for four days by the magistrate's court here for allegedly assaulting a contractor during a road bullying incident.

The suspects, aged between 21 and 27, were arrested early yesterday in Kampung Bako here.

According to police, the victim was in a car driven by his colleague when they noticed a motorcycle weaving in and out in a dangerous manner along Jalan Demak at about 3.30pm on Monday.

The driver sounded his horn, which caused one of the suspects to make an obsence gesture at them. The contractor then got out to confront the motorcyclist, who was soon joined by some friends.

They then assaulted the victim with helmets, causing him to suffer bruises on his head. He sought treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital before lodging a police report.

Investigating officer Insp Wan Amir Wan Mohamad said the suspects would face charges for voluntarily causing hurt under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
