IPOH - A photo of a police constable helping a man with a walker cross a road junction has gone viral on social media.
Netizens praised Konstabel Heazreen Daud, who is with Ipoh traffic police, after the photo was posted by on the Internet.
In the April incident, the man was having difficulty crossing the road during peak hour.
Kons Heazreen, 22, was quoted in a Chinese daily as saying that he went over to offer help to the man, who was using a walker, as he was standing by the roadside for a long time.
He said he was unaware that his good deed had gone viral on social media until he was informed by his superior that the media wanted to interview him.
"I do not feel that I am different from others for helping people. As a policeman, it is my job to help the people," he said.
Another traffic policeman, Kpl Mohamad Suhaimi, 50, was also praised for helping a victim in a road accident while on his way back to the police station after an operation last year.
Kpl Mohamad helped move the victim to a safer spot as he was lying in the middle of the road after falling off his motorcycle.
As it was raining, Kpl Mohamad held an umbrella for the victim and ensured his safety before an ambulance reached the scene.
"My superiors always remind us to be polite when carrying out our duties and to be ready to help the people," he said.
