Umno leader claims trial to committing criminal breach of trust

KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno division leader claimed trial to committing criminal breach of trust involving a sum of RM4,350 (S$1,482).

Zamri Redzuan@Ridzwan, who is the Cheras Umno information chief, is accused of having deposited the money into his own bank account instead of paying a tailor Mun Mens Wear.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence at the RHB Islamic Bank in Cheras, here, on Jan 27, 2014.

The offence, under Section 409 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 20 years, whipping and a fine.

Deputy public prosecutor Khairul Anwar Wahab offered RM15,000 bail and requested the court to order the accused to surrender his passport.

However, Zamri's lawyer Mohd Baharuddin Ahmad Kassim pleaded for a lower amount, saying that his client had to support four children and aged parents.

Sessions Court judge Mohd Nasir Nordin granted bail at RM8,000 in one surety and set April 22 for case management.
