SERDANG - A video game fan allegedly stabbed a man in the neck with a parang for not letting him play on a computer console at a cyber cafe here.

The victim is in stable condition at the Serdang Hospital, while the suspect, in his 40s, and an accomplice have been arrested by police.

The incident began at about 10pm Saturday when the suspect got into an argument with the victim, an employee at the Taman Bukit Serdang cyber cafe, because the employee was reportedly hogging a computer he wanted to play on.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Razimi Ahmad said that the suspect was "unhappy" as the employee would not relinquish the computer, even though he had been on it for a "long time".

"They had a war of words, the suspect left unsatisfied, and then came back at about 11.30pm with a friend," he said.

They re-entered the cafe allegedly carrying a badminton racquet bag which contained a parang and a plank.

Asst Comm Razimi said the two men allegedly grabbed the employee, interrupting his reported game of Dota, and dragged him out of his chair.

In a fit of rage, the two men then attacked the victim with the plank and parang.

The cafe management broke up the scuffle and told the men to take their dispute outside of the premise before closing up the crowded cafe.

The men reportedly continued their fight at a nearby restaurant, where police said the victim was then stabbed in the neck.

However, witnesses claimed that about four friends of the victim came to his aide and slashed the suspect with his own parang and subdued his accomplice with the plank.

ACP Razimi said both suspects would be remanded on Monday.
