KOTA KINABALU: A video of a street fight in Keningau which may have been sparked by wine and women has gone viral.
The video clip of the brawl on social media drew numerous comments, with most users voicing their concern about the presence of illegal immigrants and security in Sabah.
Following the Sunday afternoon incident that left three men injured, including one who was warded at the Keningau hospital, the police arrested a 34-year-old foreigner.
Keningau district deputy police chief Assist Supt Awang Amit said the man was arrested at around 10.30am on Monday, adding that the police were looking for the other suspects believed to be working at the town fish market.
Relating the events that led to the incident, ASP Awang said a 20-year-old man, identified only as Cyril, was having a drink with some friends and several girls at a karaoke outlet near the market at about 3pm on Sunday.
"Initial reports suggest that another man got angry when he saw the group with the girls and attacked one of them outside the joint," ASP Awang said.
"This prompted the victim, together with Cyril and two others, to chase the attacker. However, another group of seven to eight men were waiting not far away."
It is believed the Cyril and his three friends then tried to flee but the armed men caught up with them.
ASP Awang said a 39-year-old victim, identified as Manayon Palanok, was slashed on the head and body and was later rushed to the Keningau district hospital.
He said the two other injured victims received outpatient treatment.
