Wife claims Aussie hubby took daughter

JOHOR BARU - A spa supervisor claimed that her Australian ex-husband has abducted their seven-year-old daughter while they were at a movie outing here.

Noor Syakila Abd Halim, 27, who works in Singapore, alleged that Abdul Latif Jufri Tew, 35, had taken away Nailah Witra at 6.03pm on Friday.

In an interview, she said she and her daughter had agreed to meet Abdul Latif for a movie in Johor Baru City Square.

Abdul Latif, said Noor Syakila, had earlier booked two tickets for himself and their daughter.

"I had to sit behind their row because I only bought my ticket minutes before the movie started. Midway through the screening, he told me that he had to accompany Nailah to the toilet," she said.

Initially, Noor Syakila said she did not sense anything wrong as Abdul Latif had left his backpack on the seat and assumed that they would come back.

However, she said she felt worried when they did not come back after 15 minutes and rushed outside to check.

"But they were already gone. I know my daughter is still in the country as her passport is with me but I don't know her whereabouts," she said.
