ALOR SETAR - A woman was allegedly hit by her husband when he was awakened from his sleep while she was praying as he thought she was grumbling about him.
Fadzilah Ismail, 50, ended up suffering a fracture in the ordeal.
"He was so aggressive. He started punching me, then dragged me onto the floor and stepped on my feet, hands and face," she claimed in between tears at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here yesterday.
Fadzillah, who works at a printing shop, also alleged that her 59-year-old husband had been hitting her for years but she had never told anyone about it.
But her latest ordeal, where her husband abused her non-stop for three hours from 4.15am on Monday, was just too much.
Fadzillah, who is from Kampung Sentang, Utan Aji in Kangar, said her cousin sent her to Kangar Hospital the day after the beating after the pain became unbearable.
"Then I lodged a police report in Arau. The next day, my relatives sent me to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital where I was told I suffered a fracture," she said, adding that she needed to undergo surgery next week.
Kangar OCPD Supt Abdul Rahman Mohd Noordin said they were investigating the case for voluntarily causing hurt.
"No arrest has been made so far as we need a court order."
"However, when I get a report from the hospital on Fadzilah's injuries, we will reclassify the case and take the necessary action," he said when contacted yesterday.
