PETALING JAYA - Mid-morning drama along the Damansara-Puchong Highway unfolded when a woman in distress ran towards a police car at a traffic light.

In the 10.15am incident, both the taxi in which the 33-year-old woman was in and the police car had stopped at the traffic light in Sri Damansara.

Suddenly, she alighted from the taxi and ran towards the patrol vehicle.

The pregnant woman had bruises all over her body.

“She asked for help and the police called for an ambulance to take her to the Sg Buloh Hospital,” said district OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din yesterday.

Investigations showed that the woman was a Vietnamese and was married to Malaysian man.

It is learnt that she also had a four-year-old son.

“She got into the taxi in Puchong but did not tell the driver where she wanted to go.

“Checks on her showed signs of new and old bruises.

“However, the victim did not answer questions from the investigating officer.

“A translator from the Vietnam embassy will be brought in tomorrow (today),” said ACP Mohd Zani.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
