No toilet, no marriage - that was the condition imposed by a 25-year-old bride on her husband for their new home before they tied the knot on Monday, Tamil Nesan reported.
When their marriage was agreed upon four years ago, Seema, a beautician from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, had requested Aslam Miyan to construct a toilet in their future home.
Aslam, 36, whose family uses the neighbour's toilet, had been reluctant to do so because of his low income.
"About two months back, her family informed me that she would marry me only after I've built a toilet in my home," he said, adding that he failed to persuade Seema to change her mind.
Seema got her wish 20 days before their wedding, after Aslam secured a Rs10,000 (S$207) donation from a childhood pal and his friend.
