A couple's routine ride to Singapore for work turned tragic after their motorcycle rammed into a stationary motorcycle and lorry along the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Causeway here.

Nusajaya OCPD Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said that the duo was heading to work in Singapore from Senai when the incident occurred at KM 24.6 southbound of the Causeway around 5.45am on Monday.

He said that the victim identified as Leow Siew Hoong (pic) was the pillion rider while her husband was riding the motorcycle along the stretch.

"Her husband did not notice the stationary motorcycle and lorry, which was involved in another accident earlier.

"He had hit the motorcycle before swerving and ramming straight into the lorry's tyre," he said in a statement.

Supt Noor Hashim said that Leow died on the spot due to severe injuries to her head while her husband and the other motorcyclist received treatment for minor injuries.

"The victim's body has been sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post mortem," he added.

He also said that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
