SUBANG JAYA - Two young boys woke up yesterday with one parent dead and the other on the run. Their mother was found dead in their home and their father missing.

Authorities said the six-year-old and two-month-old boys were brought by their father, 34, to their paternal grandmother's home, just 300m from their house in Taman Puchong Utama at 9.45pm on Friday.

The cyber cafe employee left the children there before telling his mother that he was going to find his 25-year-old wife while proclaiming that he wanted "to go die".

Concerned, the suspect's brother went to check on the couple at their home and found the suspect's wife lying motionless on the living room floor.

"She was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.30am yesterday. It is believed the severe bruising on her body was caused by repeated beatings with a fist.

"Investigations found the couple fought a lot due to the suspect's alleged addiction to syabu," said Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli.

ACP Yahaya said the results of the post-mortem showed the woman's death was not due to the alleged direct beating she received on Friday night but was due to past physical injuries exacerbated by the attack.

"The victim had a lot of old wounds that could have been the result of abuse and past beatings. The accumulated effect of the beatings was what killed her," he added.

ACP Yahaya said the suspect had apparently told his cousin that he had gone to Kedah.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

When met at the scene, the victim's mother said her daughter had been married to the suspect for three years and the couple fought frequently.

"I haven't seen her for about six months. I asked her to come home for Deepavali. She said she would but did not turn up," she said.

She said her daughter and her family were previously living in a flat near hers but moved out two months ago.

"She did not inform me when she moved out," she claimed.
