SHAH ALAM - A grieving widow is seeking legal redress after her husband died of injuries sustained in an accident that happened when his motorcycle hit a pothole at Section 21 here.

Mother of five Mariam Samah, 42, said she believed it was the only way to ensure that no one else would suffer the same fate as her husband, Mohamad Azmi Jamek.

Factory security guard Mohamad Azmi, 52, sustained serious head injuries and fractures all over his body after being thrown off his motorcycle on Dec 2 last year.

He was admitted to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang and discharged on Jan 20 but was rushed back to hospital on Feb 19 after his condition took a turn for the worse and he died the following day.

"My husband was a healthy and active man and he was completely incapacitated after the accident." Mariam told a press conference at the Shah Alam Umno division headquarters here yesterday.

Present were division chairman Datuk Azahari Shaari, relatives and friends.

Mariam said she strongly felt that legal action should be taken against the relevant authorities in view of the "emotional and mental torture" she and her children, aged six to 22, had gone through.

Azahari said Shah Alam Umno would find a good lawyer to represent Mariam and her family.
