1. What is SPH Mobile News?
SPH Mobile News provides continuous news coverage from The Straits Times, The Business Times, The New Paper and our widely circulated Chinese dailies on WAP.

2. How do I access the services?
SPH Mobile News is offered to all post-paid subscribers of any mobile service provider - SingTel, M1 and StarHub. Any of these post-paid subscribers can use their WAP or i-Mode (only available from StarHub) handsets to access SPH Mobile News services.

3. How many services is SPH offering on Mobile News?
Currently there are 5 services – SPH Breaking News, The Straits Times, The Business Times, The New Paper, Chinese News and SPH Lifestyle. More content from SPH will be added later.

SPH Breaking News – Latest breaking news around the world will be available on the subscriber's mobile WAP or i-Mode handset.

The Straits Times – Show up to 80% of the contents as per The Straits Times online. Only certain overseas syndicated stories might not be available via mobile. Supplements are under Lifestyle.

The Business Times – Show up to 80% of the contents as per The Business Times online. Only certain overseas syndicated stories might not be available via mobile.

Chinese News – collection of Chinese news from Lianhe Zaobao, Lianhe Wanbao, Shin Min Daily News. Covering current affairs, home news and also sports and entertainment news.

Lifestyle – contains articles from the popular The Straits Times supplements – Digital Life, Urban and Mind Your Body.

The New Paper - Get news on issues that affect the daily lives of Singaporeans, lively sports and entertainment updates with The New Paper. (News will be updated 1-day delay).

Note: there is no archival service for all handset users. Users cannot access old information once the sites have been refreshed with the current day’s content.

4. How much will the service cost?
All services are $3.21 per month (with GST) while Breaking News is at $5.35 per month (with GST). After subscription, you can access continuously updating information from Mobile News as often as you like. Charges are billed directly to your respective mobile service provider's account (you do not need to submit credit card information).

5. Why do I need to provide some personal particulars?
To create the best possible experience on this product, we collect anonymous information that lets us analyze and improve the user experience. At the same time, we are committed to protecting your privacy, so we do not release any personally identifiable information about subscribers without permission.

6. I am a print / online subscriber; do I get a discount / get free access?
Unfortunately, each subscription will be charged separately.

Breaking News (2 components – email alerts / i-Mode site)

1. How many news updates will there be on a daily basis?
There will be 8-12 news updates from Singapore and around the world that will be available for the service's subscribers throughout the day.

2. How much is the subscription rate for the service?
Monthly subscription rate for SPH Breaking News is at $5.35 (with GST).

3. How frequently is the news updated?
The SPH Breaking News WAP and i-Mode site will be updated regularly whenever there is any happening news. Each article will have a time indication showing how long ago the article has been posted on the site.

 

The Straits Times

1. How much is the subscription rate?
Monthly subscription rate for The Straits Times is at $3.21 (with GST).

2. How frequently is the news updated?
Following The Straits Times online, the site will go live with a fresh edition from 6:30am daily.

3. What sections are not available?
Sections like the display and classified ads, obituaries, comics, radio and TV listings and the Saturday newspaper's Recruit section are not available. Some overseas syndicated news is also not available.

 

The Business Times

1. How much is the subscription rate?
Monthly subscription is at $3.21 (with GST).

2. How frequently is the news updated?
The news is refreshed at 5am everyday.

 

The New Paper

1. How much is the subscription rate?
Monthly subscription is at $3.21 (with GST).

2. How frequently is the news updated?
The news is refreshed at 6:15am everyday. Please note that news will be updated 1-day delay.

 

Chinese News

1. How much is the subscription rate?
Monthly subscription is at $3.21 (with GST).

2. How frequently is the content updated?
World and China news will be updated earlier at 9am while other sections are updated at 12 noon. If there is any breaking news, it will be updated on the site.


Lifestyle

1. How much is the subscription rate?
Monthly subscription is at $3.21 (with GST).

2. How frequently is the content updated?
The 3 supplements will be updated on a weekly basis.

SPH Breaking News SMS Alert provides daily real-time breaking news to the subscribers via SMS.

2. Is SPH Breaking News SMS Alert service available for all SingTel Mobile customers?
No, this service is only available for all SingTel post-paid subscribers.

3. How do I subscribe to SPH Breaking News SMS Alert?
You can subscribe to the service by dialing *155, and reply to the number of your desired service.

4. How much do I have to pay for the service?
The subscription charges are as follow:
•    Business Times News - $5.35/mth - Free 30 days promo
•    The Straits Times Singapore News - $4.28/mth - Free 60 days promo
•    The Straits Times World News - $4.28/mth - Free 30 days promo
•    Lianhe Zaobao News - $4.28/mth - Free 30 days promo
•    Shin Min / Wanbao Soccer Info - $5.35/mth - Free 30 days promo
•    TNP Soccer Info - $5.35/mth - Free 30 days promo (exclusive to M1 subscribers only)

5. Can I still receive the alert when roaming?
If you’ve subscribed to autoroam service, you will receive provided the overseas operator’s network that you are roaming to supports Mobile Terminating (Incoming) Short Messaging.

You may however, be charged for the SMS received depending on the overseas operator. Call your telecommunication provider’s 24 Hour Customer Service Hotline for the latest list of roaming destinations and charges.
